Leadership Optimization: Three Questions to Guide Your Journey

Leadership is a journey, a set of daily practices that guide you. It is a continuous process of learning, growth, and refinement. As leaders, we are constantly striving to improve our effectiveness and impact.

One of the most important steps in optimizing your leadership is self-awareness. When you understand your own values, motivations and commitments, you can begin to see where you can improve as a leader and develop strategies for growth.

In order to gain a deeper understanding of yourself as leader, I’d like to invite you to ask yourself the following three questions:

1. Do you believe it's possible to optimize your leadership?

The first step to optimizing leadership is believing that it is possible. If you believe that you are as good as you can be, then you will never strive to improve. However, if you believe that there is always room for growth, then you will be open to new ideas and feedback. And, you will reap the rewards of becoming an Optimized Leader.

2. Do you have a vision for your optimized leadership?

Once you believe that it is possible to optimize your leadership, you need to develop a vision for what that looks like. What are your expanded goals as a leader? What impact do you want to have? What kind of leader do you want to be? What does “optimized” look like for you? Having a clear vision will help us to stay focused on our goals and make progress towards them.

3. Do you have a roadmap to optimize your leadership?

In order to achieve your vision for optimized leadership, you need to develop a clear roadmap. This roadmap should include specific steps that you can take to improve your leadership skills and effectiveness. The roadmap must include not only the actions you’ll take but how you’ll make the deeper shifts required to address your leadership blindspots.

The journey to optimized leadership is a lifelong one. It requires commitment, dedication, and perseverance. However, the rewards are well worth the effort. When you decide to be an Optimized Leader, you will naturally expand your vision, impact and influence in the world. You will not only perform better but you will feel better as you do it.
