Land Acknowledgement Statement
Introduction
At the Tenacious Leadership Institute, we recognize the importance of acknowledging the indigenous peoples upon whose traditional lands we live, work, and gather. Through this statement, we honor their enduring connection to this territory and express our commitment to honoring and learning from their wisdom and experiences.
Gratitude
We acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash peoples. We pay our respects to the elders past, present, and emerging, and recognize their enduring relationship with this land.
Recognition of Indigenous Stewardship
For thousands of years, the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash people have stewarded these lands, nurturing a rich cultural heritage and deep connection to the earth. We honor their resilience, wisdom, and contributions to our community.
Commitment to Learning
As we engage in our work of leadership development and social impact, we commit to fostering understanding, respect, and reciprocity with Indigenous peoples. We recognize the ongoing struggles for justice, sovereignty, and land rights faced by indigenous communities across Los Angeles, and stand in solidarity with their efforts.
Pledge of Solidarity
Through this acknowledgment, we affirm our commitment to reconciliation, equity, and social responsibility. May we continue to learn from the wisdom of indigenous peoples and strive for a more just and inclusive future for all.
